Default Accent brake swaps

This is a list of known brake swap possibilities. I'm sure there are other possibilities also. If you have any useful information to add please feel free.

FRONT BRAKE CONVERSIONS

Sonata/Tiburon GT 11" brakes and 4x100 bolt pattern (DIY HERE)

Left and right 1999-2000 J2 Elantra front spindles

Left and right 2003-2008 Tiburon GT calipers with mounting bracket and hardware (non-SE*)

A set of front brake pads for a 2003-2008 Tiburon (non-SE*)

A pair of 11" 2004 Sonata rotors (with ABS) re-drilled for 4x100 bolt pattern

A pair of 2000-2006 LC/LC2 Accent hubs

*You could also do the swap using Tiburon SE calipers and pads, but you can't mix and match calipers and pads

Sonata/Tiburon GT 11" brakes and 4x114.3 bolt pattern conversion

Left and right 1999-2000 J2 Elantra spindles with hubs

Left and right 2003-2008 Tiburon GT calipers with mounting bracket and hardware (non-SE*)

A set of front brake pads for a 2003-2008 Tiburon (non-SE*)

A pair of 11" 2004 Sonata rotors (with ABS)

*You could also do the swap using Tiburon SE calipers and pads, but you can't mix and match calipers and pads

J2 Elantra 10.1" brakes and 4x114.3 bolt pattern conversion

Left and right 1999-2000 J2 Elantra spindles with hubs

Left and right 1999-2000 J2 Elantra calipers with mounting bracket and hardware

A set of front brake pads for a 1999-2000 J2 Elantra

A pair of 1999-2000 J2 Elantra rotors

XG350 10.9" brakes and 4x114.3 bolt pattern conversion

Left and right 1999-2000 J2 Elantra spindles with hubs

Left and right 2002-2005 XG350 calipers with mounting bracket and hardware

A set of front brake pads for a 2002-2005 XG350

A pair of 2005-2008 Kia Spectra* rotors

*must be 10.9" (275mm) rotors to work

REAR BRAKE CONVERSIONS

No bolt in option for rear disc brakes is verified to work. A few have been proposed but either required parts unobtainable in the USA or claims were never verified. PLEASE let me know if you have information on a bolt in rear disc brake conversion for an Accent.

It is possible to buy a kit from AtelierHP to convert to rear discs.

Confirmed Rear Disc Conversion for 2000 - 2006 LC1 & LC2

Proton Wira, Satria, M21 !!!!

What you will need from the donor car is...

Disc's

Pad's

Calipers

Mounting Brackets

Handbrake Cables

Now the handbrake cables are on temporary as you will need custom ones made up Reason being that they will not mount in the factory mountings, and will burn on the exhaust as you have to go under the fuel tank.

You will need 4 x 2.5mm thick Spacers about 20mm round and 10.3mm hole through

You will also need to have the standard hubs machined, so there is no radius in the centre of the hub where the disc will locate... Have it machined a few mm undersize so you can have a small spacer machined up at the same time so they will be a firm fit on the centre diameter of the disc

This kit allows you to keep the standard hubs and 4 x 100PCD.

Cheers Ryan

No I wanna keep my LC's bolt pattern of 4x100. I have picked up the control knuckle, hub, rotor and caliper from an 03 Elantra. I have also grabbed an 02 Accent knuckle and hub and comparing the 2 knuckles together they are very close to being the same. I am going to attempt the "Theoretical 10.1" brakes retaining 4x100 bolt pattern" thats listed in the first post except im gunna use the Elantra rotor with redrilled 4x100 pattern instead uf fumbling with the Mazda rotor.

Once I confirm this works im gunna take it a step further and morph the "Sonata/Tiburon GT 11" brakes and 4x114.3 bolt pattern conversion" by using the Tib Calipers and Sonata rotors redrilled to 4x100. Also to deal with the fact these rotors need to be centered im gunna get hub centric rings to fill in the gap and cut off the extra that will protrude out past the rotor.

Well the Accent Hub is 1mm smaller in diameter so it just kinda drops into the Elantra spindle so this is a problem. If I can get some bearings with the inside diameter the same as the Accent hub and outside diameter the same size as the Elantra spindle then I dont see why this wont work. I will contact my bearing supplier we use for work and give him the specs on what im looking for.

Who has done this front brake swap? Anyone? I want to know how the alignment turned out and if handling was affected.

Have you looked at the brakes of a Mitsubishi Mirage 1.8 (1997-2002)?

They are bigger then LC but I don't remember the specs. I have heard rumors here about people use them on LCs.

If you get a part number on those bearings, please share with us!
